Allegations Regarding Richard Lee's Convert Status, Legal Representative Speaks Out

The feud between Doctor Richard Lee and Samira Farahnaz alias Doktif has now spilled over into very sensitive personal matters. Doktif previously made a statement questioning the validity of Richard Lee's status as a convert during his detention. This immediately triggered a strong reaction from Richard Lee's legal team, who considered the statement to be a serious defamation.

"This is a very serious accusation and for us, we are currently reviewing and discussing it with the team to respond to it seriously as well. If there are elements of a criminal act involved, whether it is defamation or slander, we may later discuss with our client to prepare legal steps," said Abdul Ad-Haji Talaohu.

The statement was made when met at the Metro Jaya Police, South Jakarta, on Monday (30/03/2026). Richard Lee's party emphasized that the issue of belief is a private right that should not be used as public consumption or a tool to attack someone's character.

According to Abdul's statement, Richard Lee officially embraced Islam a year ago. The process of conversion is claimed to have been done officially and has credible witnesses. The legal team has also prepared supporting documents to refute the accusations from Doktif.

3. Richard Lee Converted to Islam Since 2025

"Because Dr. Richard has embraced, converted to Islam around March 2025, coinciding with the 5th of Ramadan. And we have complete evidence, we will be able to prove it in the future," explained Abdul.

Abdul added that no one has the right to question how someone practices their worship. For him, the intensity of a person's worship is a matter between the individual and God, not something that needs to be proven to the public or the law.

"Because for us, no one has the right to question or interrogate someone's beliefs that they hold and believe in. Because the matter of practicing worship is a private matter, something that we cannot question," he added.

The legal case of Richard Lee began with a report from Doktif regarding the Health and Consumer Protection Law. Doktif suspected dishonesty in the product labeling and sterility that could endanger users of Richard Lee's beauty products.

Currently, Richard Lee's legal team is constructing a possible counter report related to defamation. They are waiting for direct instructions from Richard Lee, who is currently still detained at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters.
