Ammar Zoni Cries While Preparing His Personal Plea, Shares About Losing His Parents and Divorce

Ammar Zoni is preparing to face a very important trial agenda, which is the reading of the defense note or plea. Behind bars, Ammar is known to be drafting his personal defense himself. This writing process has become a very emotional moment for the former husband of Irish Bella as he has to remember the various life trials that have come one after another.

His lawyer, Jon Mathias, accompanied the drafting process for hours inside the prison. Ammar was given the freedom to pour out all his feelings into the writing that will later be read in front of the panel of judges. Jon stated that the draft is complete and covers Ammar's life journey from his peak to his lowest point now.

"We came to the prison to educate Ammar for the preparation of his personal plea. Alhamdulillah, he has drafted the plea. We arrived earlier at 2 PM, and just finished because we were helping to educate him in drafting the plea," said Jon Mathias when met at Cipinang Prison, East Jakarta, Wednesday (1/4/2026).

In his personal defense note, Ammar Zoni recounts his life history in depth. He wrote about the reasons why he fell into the circle of narcotics and how sad he felt facing divorce. Ammar also expressed his deep sense of loss when his child, mother, and biological father passed away.

"In essence, he is telling the story of his life, right, until he separated, and then also why he came to know narcotics. Then how he lost his child, and the death of his father. So he arranged everything well. Of course, we as Legal Advisors are more focused on educating him about his legal issues," he said.

The emotional atmosphere was undeniable as Ammar read his defense points in front of his legal team. Jon Mathias revealed that his client could not hold back tears while recalling memories of his family. Ammar felt deeply affected by the loss of his loved ones at a time when he desperately needed moral support.

"Yes, while reading it to us, he cried a lot while preparing it. When he read the plea, if we look back at his life story, it’s also extraordinary; he could cry, it’s sad too," he said.

"How he is like pioneering a career, how his suffering was when he was left by his younger sibling, whose first younger sister passed away, then his mother also passed away, right, until his father died when he was in great need of support from the people he loved," Jon continued.

The legal team hopes that every sentence crafted by Ammar can touch the conscience of the judges. Jon emphasizes the humanitarian aspect of this case, especially regarding Ammar's status as a father. Even though he is divorced, Ammar still wants to fulfill his obligation to guide his young children.

"This panel of judges is a woman, a mother, she must have a sense of justice and humanity for Ammar. Moreover, Ammar is still young, with a long future ahead. His children are still small, and they need his guidance even though he is divorced. But there is no such thing as a former father, former children do not exist. So hopefully the judge will consider that," he expressed.

As the trial approaches tomorrow, Ammar is confirmed to be in good physical condition and ready to perform at his best in the courtroom. He has even tidied up his appearance to look presentable when meeting the judge. The family hopes that this defense will be a path for Ammar to achieve the fairest justice.

"Alhamdulillah, his condition is good. For tomorrow's trial, he also got a haircut to look neat. So alhamdulillah for the prison service, we, as Legal Advisors representing the family, are very grateful as well," concluded Jon Mathias.
