Ammar Zoni Transferred to Nusakambangan Prison After Being Suspected of Drug Trafficking

The Ministry of Immigration and Law through the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjen PAS) has transferred six high-risk inmates to Nusakambangan Island. One of them is actor Ammar Zoni.

The Sub-Director of Cooperation at Ditjen PAS, Rika Aprianti, stated that this step shows the government's seriousness in combating drug trafficking within prisons. "This is proof that the warnings from the Minister and the Director General are serious, that anyone involved in drug trafficking will be dealt with," she said in a press release on Thursday (16/10/2025).

Ammar and five other inmates from Jakarta will be placed in the Super Maximum Security Prison in Karang Anyar, Nusakambangan. Rika explained that they fall into the high-risk category and require strict supervision and intensive rehabilitation.

"Like other high-risk inmates, they will receive super maximum security and rehabilitation to help them change for the better," he said.

The group arrived in Nusakambangan around 07:43 WIB. The transfer was conducted in the early morning with the escort of officers from the Directorate General of Corrections, East Jakarta Police, National Police Headquarters, and Jakarta Correctional officers.

According to Rika, so far more than 1,500 high-risk inmates have been transferred to Nusakambangan. The aim is to protect the prison and detention center from drug circulation while also helping inmates realize their mistakes.

The Head of the Jakarta Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections, Heri Azhari, emphasized that they remain committed to realizing a drug-free prison. "Zero drugs is a non-negotiable price. This serves as an alarm for us to remain vigilant and take action," he stated.

Through this initiative, the Directorate General of Corrections hopes that all inmates can undergo rehabilitation well and be ready to return to society as law-abiding citizens.
