Ammar Zoni Will Return to Nusakambangan After the Trial is Completed

Ammar is scheduled to return to the Correctional Institution (Lapas) in Nusakambangan to continue his sentence as a detainee with a certain level of security.

1. The Transfer Has Been Established Since the Beginning

This transfer is a follow-up to the procedures that have been established since the beginning of his detention. The Ditjenpas emphasized that Ammar's presence in Cipinang Prison is currently only temporary to facilitate the ongoing trial in court.

"Yes, according to the permit letter from the Director General of Corrections at that time, it was indeed stated that Ammar Zoni and his colleagues would be returned or serve their sentences again at Karang Anyar Prison as high-risk detainees there after the trial process," said Rika Aprianti to reporters on Wednesday (21/1/2026).

"Yes, for now he is still at the Jakarta Narcotics Prison placed in a special block with other inmates in that case," explained Rika.

Regarding how long Ammar will stay in Jakarta, the correctional authorities cannot provide a certain timeframe. This is entirely at the discretion of the panel of judges handling his legal case. A swift legal process is actually very much hoped for so that Ammar can soon get certainty regarding the next steps in his rehabilitation.

"If that is the question, it is for the judge. We are indeed facilitating because the person concerned is placed in correctional facilities, in this case, in the prison. So we depend on the court itself or the judges of the court," said Rika.

4. Hoping for a Quick Resolution

"We hope it goes quickly so that it can be resolved soon. I think Ammar and his friends also want this trial to conclude quickly so that the next steps can proceed," concluded Rika Aprianti.
