"My motivation is that I feel like I have been given so much by God, by the earth, and I feel like it's time for me to share," Andien stated when met in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (3/12/2024).

"I often feel like I have taken so much from the earth. In a way, humans are all extracting, so if what I produce can also be for others, why not?" she added.

2. The Difficulty of Sharing Thoughts

Andien acknowledges that establishing and managing a free school for children of scavengers and street performers is not an easy task.

"There is definitely hard work involved. I mean, now I have to divide my thoughts and energy among everything I am doing," Andien expressed.

Despite the significant challenges she faces, Andien feels grateful to have a solid support system.

"Fortunately, I have many support systems that help me, especially in running this foundation," she added.

3. Searching for Committed Educators for This School

Andien also revealed the challenges faced since the establishment of a free school for children of scavengers and street performers regarding their educators.

"In the beginning, we thought there were so many people willing to volunteer. But in the end, it was also difficult for the volunteers who had many other activities," Andien said.

She added that to maintain the sustainability and commitment of the school, they need educators who can fully focus on this program.

"Meanwhile, we want those who are committed and sustainable for the school itself. So, right now we are still looking for educators who have aligned commitments," she continued.

4. Quite Challenged by Managing Administration in the Scavenger Village

Andien also shared another significant challenge in establishing the Sekolah Anak Percaya, which is that many children of scavengers and street performers do not even have valid population administration documents.

"Another challenge is that, let alone the school, many of them do not even have population administration documents. Not to mention an ID card, they don’t even have a birth certificate," said Andien.

This becomes an obstacle in ensuring access to proper education. Therefore, Sekolah Anak Percaya not only focuses on education but also helps manage their population administration.

"In that regard, Sekolah Anak Percaya also takes care of their population administration," she continued.
