Anisa Bahar Failed to Become a Member of Parliament, Already Spent 5 Billion from Selling 2 Luxury Cars

Singer Anisa Bahar had to swallow a bitter pill after failing to win a parliamentary seat in this year's DPR Legislative Election. Anisa is known to be registered as a candidate for the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) from Central Java IX Electoral District representing the Nasdem Party.

Anisa admitted that she has spent her own money amounting to Rp 5 billion which was used for campaign funds all this time. However, Anisa assures that she did not use the money to 'buy' votes.

"Approximately 5 billion. I didn't spend much because I didn't buy votes," said Anisa when met in the area of Jalan Kapten Tendean, Mampang, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (5/3/2024).

Anisa said that the 5 billion rupiah was the result of selling some of her personal belongings. Even one of them was by selling a luxury car and now she only has a regular car left.

"I used my personal money and sold two of my luxury cars. Now I don't have any luxury cars anymore, I only use a regular car because I've sold them," she said.

Nevertheless, Anisa admitted that she is not discouraged to participate in future elections as a candidate for the people's representative. Moreover, from the beginning, she was prepared if she lost in the competition.

"Not (fed up). Just have to consider choosing the right electoral district," said the 47-year-old woman.

"In the competition, there are winners and losers, and I am ready to lose. I'm not like someone whose mind is focused on winning, no. What matters is that I have done and will do my best for the community," Anisa continued.

It is known that based on the online system data from the General Election Commission (KPU) as of today (Tuesday, 5/3), Anisa Bahar has only collected 2,371 votes.

Although still being a candidate from the NasDem Party with the second highest number of votes in that electoral district, Anisa's achievement is far behind her competitors.
