"My children still want to spend time with me, and when I come home a bit late, they look for me. Every time I go to work, they always ask me questions. For me, since my children are starting to enter their teenage years, it feels like an achievement," said Arumi Bachsin when met in the Epicentrum area, South Jakarta, recently.

She realizes that the teenage phase is usually associated with children starting to distance themselves from their parents. However, this is not the case with her children, who continue to show care even though it is sometimes mixed with a bit of pride.

"Because teenagers are usually the laziest with their moms, right? But here, they still sometimes look for me even though they act a bit proud, and that feels really nice because it means the kids do care, and the dad cares too," she revealed.

One of the proofs of a child's attention that makes him touched is when his youngest son wants to go down to the kitchen to cook. Even though the child is still in the 4th grade of elementary school, he is already brave enough to try to make food for his mom.

"My son immediately went into the kitchen, 'Just a moment, Mom.' He made me something. Even though he's still in 4th grade. Well, for him to be brave enough to hold the pan, deal with the heat, there's fire there, and then cook without burning it, and it tastes good. For me, those little things are actually very valuable," she explained.

It turns out that this independence is something she has intentionally taught her children from an early age. She wants them to be able to take care of their basic needs independently, but as a bonus, she actually receives sweet attention from the results of her teachings.

"Since I was little, I have taught him. The goal is so that when you are hungry, you can be independent. But thank God, it worked out like that," said Arumi Bachsin.
