Arya Saloka Admits It's Tough to Play a Role in 'SAYAP-SAYAP PATAH 2: OLIVIA', Must Share Feelings in Every Scene

The film SAYAP-SAYAP PATAH 2: OLIVIA is Arya Saloka's latest project where he reprises the role of a member of Densus 88, this time facing a different challenge: being a single father. The actor playing Pandu revealed how tough the emotionally draining shooting process was.

"Emotionally it’s quite difficult actually, but I was really helped by my friends and my discussion partners at the office," Arya said when met at XXI Epicentrum, Kuningan, South Jakarta, Wednesday (30/4/2025).

Arya added that sharing feelings on set is a big challenge. Especially when having to switch from an emotional scene as a father to a professional role in law enforcement.

"So indeed, you have to share your feelings every shoot, every scene at the office, the kids have to call, and thinking about what it's like at home. The way the scenes are shot is quite heavy from a mental perspective," he continued.

One of the hardest scenes Arya remembers is when he had to hold back emotions in a hospital scene. He was required to maintain an emotional explosion to feel authentic during the climax of the scene.

"The biggest challenge honestly is that some films, SAYAP-SAYAP PATAH, have quite deep emotional depth," Arya revealed.

He mentioned that filming the hospital scene took quite a long time, even until the call to prayer for Ashar, due to the director's perfectionism.

"So maybe my feeling during that hospital scene was that I had to hold on for quite a while. My director is quite a perfectionist, the scene might look quick but for me, it felt really long until just before the Ashar call to prayer," he explained.

Arya admitted that maintaining consistency in energy and emotion from the beginning to the end of the scene was the hardest part during the filming process.

"I really had to keep that in check, there really had to be something poured out at the end, that's why it had to be really maintained. It was quite heavy for me," he concluded.

The film WINGS OF BROKEN 2: OLIVIA is scheduled to be released on June 5, 2025. In addition to Arya Saloka, this film also stars Dara Sarasvati, Myesha Lin, Bio One, and Iwa K.
