Tommy Kurniawan, an artist and newly appointed member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, is now facing the balance between his entertainment career and political responsibilities. Although he has already been a people's representative for a second term, Tommy continues to accept shooting offers.
“No, I actually still receive offers from several production houses. I will do some things later, but most of my time is indeed used to serve the country,” he said at the Indonesian House of Representatives building, Senayan, South Jakarta, Tuesday (1/10/2024).
One of the offers he received was to shoot a television film (FTV) that only required three days. “Yesterday I got an FTV offer and the shooting only took three days and my schedule was empty, so I took it,” Tommy explained.
However, there was also an offer that he had to decline. "Yesterday I was offered a drama series, but it was only one episode dead. I was really happy about that, I just can’t do long ones. But my wife didn’t like it because the story was about me cheating, so I just let it go," he revealed.
Speaking about income, Tommy revealed that the salary from the parliament and the entertainment world is not much different. "In my opinion, it’s the same because at that time, coincidentally, when I was shooting, it was also a monthly salary," he said.
Although his income may vary, Tommy emphasizes the importance of time management in his work. Work time is Tommy's main focus.
"When I shoot, you know it can be from morning until morning, but here I often go home in the evening or sometimes at night or only at certain times," he explained.
When asked about earnings that can reach hundreds of millions in the DPR, Tommy emphasized, "No. It's not that much salary, if I'm not mistaken it's sixteen (million)," he said.
He also mentioned the allowances he receives. "As for that, I forgot how much, but if shooting is nice, it’s a large monthly amount too," he concluded.
