As a Result of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Ernest Prakasa's Mother's Store Closes After 36 Years of Operation

The writer and director of the movie CHECK OUT THE STORE NEXT DOOR announced that his family's store is permanently closed. He had to let go of the store that had been operating for 36 years and let go of the loyal employees.

"Just like the scene in the movie CHECK OUT THE STORE NEXT DOOR, today my mom had to say goodbye to the employees, some of whom have been serving for decades," Ernest wrote.

"The New Store (in the movie, I jokingly changed it to Jaya Baru Store) which has been operating since 1985, finally had to end its journey after 36 years. The store practically became the main source of our family's livelihood, after my dad's business collapsed due to the '98 crisis," he added.

It is told that this store finally closed due to the pandemic. The community, who were advised to stay at home, changed their shopping patterns to more frequently use online services.

"The pandemic changed the shopping patterns, and online facilities, which had already eroded old school grocery stores, further crushed them mercilessly," Ernest explained.

Despite that, Ernest accepted it with an open heart. For him, there is nothing to regret and it is better to be grateful for what exists.

"Times change. Life goes on. There is nothing to regret, only good things to be grateful for. Be patient, Mom, I'm always here," he concluded.
