Kapanlagi.com - Ayu Ting Ting shared her childhood memories during the celebration of Indonesia's 81st Independence Day. Amidst the busy celebrations of August 17, this singer from Depok recalled moments when she actively participated in various competitions in her neighborhood.
"Oh this one, threading a needle. I always won that," said Ayu Ting Ting in Depok, West Java, on Monday (17/8/2026).
She described herself as a competitive child during the 17th celebrations. The needle-threading competition was one of the events she excelled at because it required concentration.

Ayu admitted that she enjoyed participating in classic competitions that usually enliven August 17th. In addition to the concentration challenge of threading a needle, she also mentioned eating crackers and walking quickly while carrying marbles on a spoon.
"Marbles, but don't swallow them. Walk with the marbles in your mouth, then eat the crackers, put the pencil in the bottle. That's it," she reminisced.
The series of games are the ones she remembers most from her childhood. She referred to them as fun activities that were always part of every independence day celebration, including the challenge of putting a pencil in a bottle.
The spirit of the 17th anniversary competition is now continued by her daughter, Bilqis Khumairah Razak. In this year's independence commemoration, Bilqis participated in an environmental event with her cousins.
"Bilqis also competed with her other cousins of the same age, they played soccer earlier," she said.
According to Ayu, Bilqis's participation added to the festive atmosphere. Activities with the extended family have become a routine moment of togetherness that occurs every August 17th.
Concluding the discussion, Ayu expressed her hopes for Indonesia. Entering the 81st year of independence, she entrusted a prayer for the welfare of the people.
"God willing, Indonesia hopefully will be even more independent, even more prosperous for all its people," concluded Ayu Ting Ting.
She conveyed this statement coinciding with the celebration of August 17, after recounting her childhood competition experiences and Bilqis's activities during this year's independence moment.
