Baim Wong Denies Committing Domestic Violence Against Paula Verhoeven

Kapanlagi.com - The divorce trial of Baim Wong and Paula Verhoeven at the South Jakarta Religious Court on Wednesday (26/2/2025) heated up again. The debate between the two raised suspicions of domestic violence (KDRT) revealed through CCTV recordings. Nevertheless, these allegations were immediately denied by Baim Wong's side.

According to Baim Wong's legal counsel, Usman Lawara, the debate in the trial was merely a clash of arguments. He confirmed that there was no physical violence as claimed by Paula Verhoeven's side.

"It has entered the material. I cannot provide details. The point is, there was a trigger for loud voices, but it was just a clash of arguments. Nothing more than that," said Usman after the trial.

1. Expert Opinion on Telematics

However, a different statement emerged from telematics expert, Abimanyu, who was presented as an expert witness by Paula's side. In the trial, Abimanyu explained the contents of the CCTV footage that allegedly shows the moment of the altercation between Baim and Paula.

"There was a heated argument from the male party towards the female party. In the recording, there is visible hard body contact that causes the female party to be thrown back," Abimanyu explained.

He also mentioned a hand movement that allegedly touched Paula's head, pushing her forward. Nevertheless, Abimanyu admitted that he could not conclude whether the actions constituted domestic violence or not. He emphasized that the angle of the CCTV recording was not clear enough to determine the details of the incident.

"Whether it is domestic violence or not, let the legal experts assess. From this recording, not all scenes are clearly visible," he stated.

2. Unfounded Claims

On the other hand, Usman Lawara denied all allegations of violence directed at Baim Wong. According to him, the CCTV footage does not show any physical contact as mentioned. "Oh, no. That is excessive. From our observation, there was no pushing or physical contact," said Usman.

Usman also stated that Paula's narrative of being pushed in the footage is an unfounded claim. He emphasized that the communication that occurred between Baim and Paula was a serious discussion without any elements of violence. "That's why I said, where does that statement of being pushed come from? In the trial earlier, there was nothing like that," he added.

In addition, Usman explained that the CCTV evidence presented by Paula's side only depicted moments of verbal conflict, not physical. "From our side, it was just a serious conversation, not violence. Therefore, the allegation of domestic violence is not true," he asserted.

Meanwhile, Abimanyu also revealed that in the footage, there was an attempt by Paula to retaliate against Baim's actions. However, the movement did not hit its target. "There was also a movement from the woman towards the man's head, but it missed," he said.
