"Honestly, action is harder, action movies. Maybe in the ring because there are a lot of people watching. But in action, the movements of 21 grips can be 20 movements," said Jefri Nichol when met in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, recently.
"So it's like pulling, actually, you have to memorize all the movements and everything. Actually, in the ring, it's more about anticipation, like just a style. So action is definitely more difficult," he continued.
To enrich the action scenes in Pertaruhan 3, Jefri is not only relying on boxing and muay thai techniques like in previous seasons. This time, he studied judo to add variety to his fighting style.
"I learned judo, throwing techniques. Because in seasons 1-2 it was like there were already too many boxing and muay thai movements. I want something new, throwing techniques and different movements, locks," he said.
Learning judo and grappling techniques has become a new challenge that he must conquer. With this additional technique, the fight scenes in Pertaruhan 3 are promised to be more diverse and interesting compared to before.
"So there will be an improvement in the martial arts in this season 3," he explained.
In addition to fighting techniques, Elzan's character in Pertaruhan 3 also undergoes changes in appearance. One of the most noticeable is the long hair that Jefri now sports to delve into his role.
"I really want my character to be 2 years after season 2, I want there to be a change. One of them is this long hair besides the change in fighting style as well," he said.
