Becoming a Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Uya Kuya is Not Worried About the Nickname King of Gimmick

Kapanlagi.com - Artist Uya Kuya, known as the king of gimmicks in the entertainment world, has officially been inaugurated as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI). The man born on April 4, 1975, was inaugurated as a member of the DPR RI for the 2024-2029 period on October 1.

The figure who has long been involved in prank programs on television is not worried that such titles will follow him into the political arena. The father of two children emphasizes that the entertainment and political worlds have different spaces.

"No way (worried), the title of King of Prank, King of Gimmick, that’s in the entertainment world, right? And the point is we can separate what we do in the entertainment world from what we do as members of the Council," said Uya Kuya in the Senayan area of Central Jakarta, Tuesday (1/10/2024).

1. Becoming a Member of the DPR is Not a Burden

Uya emphasized that his position as a member of the DPR is not a burden for him. According to him, this is a mandate given by the people and he only needs to carry it out well in accordance with the aspirations of the community.

"No, don't make it a burden, what is certain is that it must align with the mandate of the people and their aspirations," he said.

2. Becoming a Member of the DPR is Not for Material Gain

Uya Kuya also explained that his decision to become a member of the DPR RI is not for material reasons. Uya, who has been active in the entertainment industry for decades, admitted that he has sufficient wealth, so his main goal now is to serve the community.

"Now that I am a member of the DPR, I really want to serve the community; life doesn’t always have to be about making money, I am grateful to have enough money," Uya expressed.

3. Feeling Satisfied in the Entertainment World Because of Many Trophies

Furthermore, Uya even mentioned that his achievements in the entertainment world are more than satisfying. He feels content with his career in entertainment because he has won dozens of awards, including 13 Panasonic Gobel Awards, which have made his name more recognized.

"And the achievements in the artist world are already maximal, I've experienced the Panasonic Gobel Awards, already 13 trophies and yeah, in the artist world it's enough," Uya explained.
