Kapanlagi.com - The news regarding the engagement of Jonathan Frizzy alias Ijonk with Ririn Ekawati has recently attracted attention. However, his uncle, Benny Simanjuntak, immediately denied the rumors and asserted that the news is not true.
"I already explained that it is just gossip, they are not engaged. The news circulated during Ririn's birthday in November when Jonathan gave a gift," said Benny when met in the area of Jalan Kapten Tendean, Mampang, South Jakarta, Tuesday (28/1/2025).
According to Benny, the gift was just a normal gesture of affection in a dating relationship, not a sign of engagement as widely reported.
"It's just giving a gift, and then it's divided, but there is no engagement. From my side, there is 100 percent no engagement," he emphasized again.
Benny also explained that until now there has been no serious discussion leading to engagement. Their relationship, Benny said, is still just dating.
“They are still dating,” he said briefly.
When asked if Ririn has any desire to get engaged, Benny dismissed the notion. According to him, their relationship is still like a regular couple who give each other gifts on special occasions.
“There’s nothing for that. If Ijonk has a birthday, Ririn gives a gift; if Ririn has a birthday, Ijonk gives a gift. That’s how it is, like a normal couple, giving gifts. That’s what’s been misunderstood. Actually, there’s nothing, I emphasize there is no engagement,” said Benny.

Benny added that there are no serious plans towards marriage due to religious differences and each person's responsibilities towards their children. This makes discussions about marriage still far from reality.
“There’s nothing, this is not happening yet, because besides the religious differences, they have responsibilities, they have children. So if the conversation goes there, it’s still quite far away. They are just enjoying their happiness,” Benny explained.
Regarding the virality of the issue, Benny admitted he does not have a problem with it. However, he feels the need to provide clarification so that no party is harmed, especially Ririn and her family.
"It’s okay, it’s normal for a viral situation to have a response like this for clarification. I emphasize that there’s nothing, poor Ririn and her family are disturbed, engaged but there’s nothing, right?" he said.
Meanwhile, Benny emphasized that Ijonk is already used to gossip. As an artist, according to Benny, Jonathan knows very well how to deal with the issues circulating in the entertainment world.
"Ijonk no, he’s already used to gossip. He’s an artist," Benny concluded.
