Chikita Meidy's Story: Disappointed to be Reported by Her Own Friend, Claims What Was Said During Live is a Fact

Kapanlagi.com - Former child singer Chikita Meidy is disappointed because she has been reported for alleged defamation by her own friend, Shilda Oktavia Rosa. The report made by her friend occurred on September 12, 2024, at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters in South Jakarta.

According to Chikita Meidy, this issue could have been discussed amicably. However, her friend chose to take it directly to the legal realm.

"I am honestly very disappointed because I believe matters like this can be discussed amicably," said Chikita at a press conference in South Jakarta on Friday (27/9/2024).

1. Facts Not Hoax

According to Chikita, what she said during the TikTok live streaming is true. But all of that is actual facts and not made up or fabricated by herself.

"And what I conveyed in that live streaming is a fact based on the related evidence that I have submitted to my legal team," said Chikita.

Adam Barkah Setiadi, who is part of Chikita's legal team, recounted the chronology of the incident. According to Adam, his client was merely expressing her feelings during the live session.

"Regarding what she has felt all this time towards the reporter, who we know as Shilda Oktavia Rosa. Here, she did not plan anything for that TikTok live and there was no element of intention or planning to mention Shilda Oktavia Rosa's name during her live," explained Adam.

"However, what was perceived by the reporter named Shilda has turned into a boomerang for our client. Why? Because Shilda believes that there is defamation against the reporter," Adam continued.

2. Immediate Summons

According to Adam, the defamation report filed by Shilda Oktavia Rosa has no basis. Moreover, she filed the report without first sending a summons letter, damaging his client's reputation.

"It does not fall under the provisions of the ITE Law. Why? Because what she expressed is a fact, not a hoax. What you all know is that under the ITE Law, if someone defames, and then someone explains something, immediately mentioning someone's name, it is considered defamation. No, it is not like that. So, what she conveyed in the TikTok live on September 6 was a fact," he concluded.

Chikita Meidy is accused by Shilda Oktavia Rosa under Article 310 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 27A in conjunction with Article 45 Paragraph 4 of the ITE Law number 1 of 2024. The penalty under that article is imprisonment for two years and a fine of IDR 400 million.
