A brief post on WhatsApp story suddenly became a national spotlight when it involved the public figure Dara Arafah. This beautiful influencer claims that her personal data and medical records were spread by irresponsible individuals.
Through her Instagram story, Dara Arafah expressed her anger after her personal data was widely disseminated. It is not just a data breach; the individual also wrote a caption belittling the health condition of the influencer. Here is the chronology, KLovers.
Dara Arafah uploaded a screenshot of a Whatsapp story from someone she claimed had spread her personal data and medical records. She expressed her anger and frustration over the dissemination of her ID card, insurance card, and diagnosis results by an individual with the initials NV.
"How could someone spread my personal data on their WA story with a caption that belittles people's illnesses. Let's all pray together that Nadia Venika never experiences a similar pain," wrote Dara Arafah in her Instagram post @daraarafah
Initially, Dara suspected that NV was a staff member from the hospital or insurance company. However, she clarified that NV is a staff member from the partner company handling the insurance she uses.
"After being traced, it turns out that NV does not work at (the hospital where I was treated), but is part of (the company where NV works) that indeed handles the insurance matters (that I use)," he continued.
In addition to spreading personal data and medical records, the individual also belittled Dara Arafah's health condition. The beautiful selebgram was medically diagnosed with febris (fever), acute gastroenteritis (AGE), and abdominal pain.
"The chaos is because she is a selebgram even though the diagnosis is just febris, AGE, abdominal pain," wrote the individual with the initials NV.
Through her next post, Dara referred to the act of spreading her personal data as a legal violation. "Spreading my personal data and medical history to the public without permission is included in actions that violate the law and privacy crimes," she revealed.
Dara mentioned the legal articles that will be used if the perpetrator is not held accountable. "What do you want NV? Do you want me to sue you under Law No. 27 of 2022 Article 65 paragraph (2) or Law No. 17 of 2023 regarding health Article 17 paragraph (2). There are still many options," explained Dara Arafah.
After the post went viral, the relevant parties have taken swift action. Dara Arafah uploaded proof of a sheet of paper stating that the individual NV has been terminated from work.
"I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Globalexcel team who have been cooperative and prompt in following up on this case. The decision to terminate the involved party is the right step and shows a commitment to protecting personal data. Thank you also to @mmchospital and the team from @allianzindonesia who have helped delve into this case," stated Dara Arafah.
Dara Arafah hopes that this situation does not happen again. "This incident should serve as an important reminder for all parties to maintain the confidentiality of personal data, as the misuse of data is a criminal act that can be legally processed according to applicable regulations," she added.
