Commenting on the DPR Chaos, Agnez Mo: It All Starts from Low EQ

According to the singer of the song Tak Ada Logika, many problems stem from low emotional intelligence (EQ), a communication style that tends to belittle and divide, as well as a lack of empathy towards the community. He highlights the importance of the ability to speak in public appropriately and constructively, especially for those who hold positions as representatives of the people.

"The MOST MINIMAL thing I can expect from a member of the DPR is the ability to speak in public appropriately. NOT DIVISIVE, but instead seeking solutions for all parties," he wrote. He emphasized that public communication skills should be a basic standard, especially for a legislator.

Agnez also shared a personal experience that she believes illustrates the poor attitude of some council members. She once received a belittling comment from one of the DPR members, implying that only those with a PhD degree are worthy of discussing certain issues. "(I’ve experienced it myself... when one of the DPR members said that if you haven’t done a doctorate, then you shouldn’t speak...)," she said.

Furthermore, she regrets the attitude of several officials who not only feel intellectually superior but also attack those with different views. Agnez believes that this is not only unethical but also undermines the spirit of democracy. She rejects ways that belittle others simply because of differing opinions.

In her message to those in power, Agnez Mo reminds that true leadership cannot rely solely on high IQ. She emphasizes that integrity, empathy, vision, and the courage to serve all people are essential foundations of a good leader. "True leadership demands the courage to serve all the people, not just those who agree with your thoughts," she asserted.

Agnez also touched on the importance of listening—not just technically, but genuinely. According to her, listening to others respectfully and not interrupting is part of ethical leadership character. "And yes, that also means not always cutting in when others are speaking," she wrote.

As a closing statement, Agnez Mo delivered a strong message to the Indonesian people. She urged the public to remain critical, not easily provoked, and not to allow themselves to be manipulated. "We are wiser. We are stronger. We are no longer Indonesia in 1998. Citizens protect citizens," she said, while reminding everyone of the nation's unifying motto: Bhinneka Tunggal Ika.
