Kapanlagi.com - Akame ga Kill! tells the story of Tatsumi, a young man from a poor village who sets out for the imperial capital to earn money to save his hometown.
Along with his two childhood friends, Sayo and Ieyasu, he gets separated due to a bandit attack and arrives at the capital alone, where he is robbed and fails to join the military.
Tatsumi stays at the house of the seemingly kind noble Aria, but it turns out that the family is cruel and has tortured and killed his friends.
Night Raid, a secret assassin group fighting against imperial corruption, attacks and kills Aria; Leone from Night Raid recruits Tatsumi after seeing his potential.
Joining Night Raid, Tatsumi meets members like Akame the deadly sword fighter, Incursio the armored warrior, Lubbock the thread manipulator, Sheele the giant scissor user, Mine the sharpshooter, and Leone the beastly fighter. They use Teigu, ancient relic weapons of immense power from the first era of the Empire.
Tatsumi's first mission is to kill Ogre, a corrupt police captain; he succeeds after pretending to join him.

Then, he fights against Zank, a Teigu user with illusion powers, but Akame saves him and takes the enemy's Teigu.
Night Raid continues to target corrupt officials like the mayor who exploits the people, while the Empire forms the Jaegers, an elite force led by General Esdeath, the sadistic ice manipulator.
Intense battles occur, including the tragic death of Bulat due to Gozuki's poison and Tatsumi's Incursio transformation.

The conflict culminates in internal betrayal; Kurome, Akame's sister, joins the Jaegers and controls the corpses of Teigu.
Lubbock dies saving Tatsumi from Syura, the son of Prime Minister Honest, while the Wild Hunt commits brutal atrocities.
Esdeath falls in love with Tatsumi and kidnaps him, but he is rescued by Night Raid. Mine nearly dies fighting Budou, but Tatsumi defeats him; they fall in love with each other despite Mine being seriously injured.

In the climax, Honest manipulates the young Emperor using Shikoutazer, a giant destructive Teigu. Tatsumi transforms into the Incursio monster to stop him along with Wave, but Akame breaks the curse of Teigu to save him.
Esdeath is defeated by Akame but chooses to commit suicide; Leone captures Honest before dying.
The revolution wins, Najenda leads the reconstruction, Tatsumi lives as a monster with the pregnant Mine, while Akame searches for an antidote to Murasame's poison.
