Synopsis of JUJUTSU KAISEN Episode 5, Sukuna Loses Control

This third season will adapt the "Itadori's Extermination", "Perfect Preparation", and "Culling Game" arcs from the original manga. This arc will feature intense battles, new characters, and intense plot developments, with the main goal of the Jujutsu sorcerers to fight Kenjaku and free Satoru Gojo from the Prison Realm.

1. Synopsis of Episode 5 Jujutsu Kaisen

Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki struggle against a Special Grade Curse in the detention center. Megumi, who manages to retreat outside the building, realizes that the special grade curse has been defeated. However, he is shocked when Sukuna, who has taken over Yuji's body, appears before him.

Sukuna arrogantly explains that Yuji cannot regain control of his body because he has used his powers too much without a clear agreement. To ensure Yuji cannot return, Sukuna takes a shocking action by ripping Yuji's heart from his chest, effectively holding Yuji hostage. This means that if Yuji manages to regain consciousness, he will die instantly. Sukuna then eats one of the other cursed fingers, enhancing his power and strengthening his control over Yuji's body.

Feeling responsible for this situation and realizing that Yuji will not return, Megumi decides to confront Sukuna alone, even though he knows the difference in their power is vast. A fight between Megumi and Sukuna erupts, where Megumi struggles to use his shikigami, Nue and Orochi, to fight against the King of Curses. Although Megumi showed strong determination, he was easily defeated by Sukuna, who didn't even need to use his full cursed techniques to overpower Megumi.

During the fight, Megumi reflected on his philosophy as a Jujutsu sorcerer, recalling his past with his sister, Tsumiki. He realized that he saved Yuji not out of obligation, but because of his personal beliefs and because he didn't want to see good people die. Just when Megumi was on the verge of defeat, Yuji briefly regained consciousness.

In his final moments, Yuji thanked Megumi and asked him to "live long" before finally succumbing to his injuries and dying. Yuji's death was a heavy blow to Megumi and Nobara. Meanwhile, Satoru Gojo found Yuji's body and suspected the involvement of higher-ups in Jujutsu in this incident. This episode also introduced second-year students, Maki Zenin, Toge Inumaki, and Panda, to Megumi and Nobara, and hinted at a future "Kyoto Sister-School Goodwill Event." On the other hand, Kenjaku, in Geto's body, along with the curses Dagon, Jogo, and Hanami, discussed their plans to defeat Gojo and make Yuji/Sukuna their ally.
