Crying in Detention on His Birthday, Vadel Badjideh: Mom, I'm Sorry

Kapanlagi.com - The legal case surrounding Vadel Badjideh does not stop the family from continuing to provide moral support. Although currently detained as a suspect in an alleged abortion and sexual intercourse with Lolly, Vadel celebrated his 21st birthday in detention, enveloped in a poignant atmosphere of emotion and prayer.

When met at the South Jakarta Metro Police on Monday (5/13/2025), the family stated that Vadel had cried when his birthday was celebrated simply on May 11. The atmosphere became even more emotional as just one day later, his mother also celebrated her birthday.

"Yes, Vadel did cry. Mom was crying and Vadel said, 'Mom, I'm sorry,'" said Titin Badjideh, Vadel's mother.

1. Bring Yellow Rice

Even in difficult conditions, the family still brings yellow rice to the detention center as a form of tradition usually done at home when a family member has a birthday.

"The tradition at home is that when someone has a birthday, it definitely happens," said Titin.

The yellow rice was even given to Vadel's cellmates as a form of togetherness, even though the atmosphere was not like usual.

"We’ll bring it so maybe Vadel can share it with his roommates," she added.

2. Keep Praying

The birthday celebration also became a reflective moment for Vadel, who felt guilty for having to spend his special day behind bars. However, his mother always provides encouragement to stay strong.

"Just go through it now, be sincere, everything will have a way for you to come home again, insya Allah," said Titin.

Martin Badjideh, Vadel's brother, also stated that the family continues to strive and pray for the legal process concerning their child to find the best path.

3. Stay Positive

"I hope our prayers give us strength," said Martin.

Although there is still no certainty regarding the legal developments, the family remains positive and sincerely faces the situation that Vadel is going through.

"Yes, we just have to accept it because I emphasize to Vadel that you must be sincere and patient in facing this," concluded Titin.
