Diagnosed with Acute Diabetes, Reasons Why Melly Goeslaw Undergoes Bariatric Surgery

According to Melly, before undergoing bariatric surgery, she had problems with her weight and had tried to diet. But it didn't succeed until she was diagnosed with acute diabetes.

"My weight had reached 110, I dieted, it went down to 72 and then went up again to 87. That's when I was diagnosed with acute diabetes," said Melly Goeslaw at her residence in Bintaro, Jakarta, on Saturday (24/6/2023).

Based on the advice of her friend, Dr. Tompi, the creator of hit songs, Melly finally decided to undergo bariatric surgery. "Then, from my friend Dr. Tompi, he suggested that I undergo Bariatric surgery to help me lose weight and normalize my blood sugar," said Melly.

"Finally, I consulted with a doctor, underwent heart checks, and so on. After being approved by all the doctors, on June 15, 2022, I underwent Bariatric surgery," she continued.

After a year of undergoing bariatric surgery, Melly now feels the positive impact. Her blood sugar is normal and she no longer feels pain in her knees.

"Alhamdulillah, up until this moment, I have lost 35 kilos in one year. My blood sugar is also normal, previously it was 250 and now it is 99-100, around that range. And I no longer have knee pain because before, my knees were in pain and even cracked, maybe because of going up and down the stairs since my room is on the second floor, carrying a weight (body) of 87 to 110 (kg). Now, Alhamdulillah, I am healed," she said.

"What makes me grateful about this, above all else, is that my mother passed away because of diabetes. I am afraid of burdening my husband and children. It's not just the family that is burdened, but I also worsen as I get older with diabetes. So, this is the right step, Alhamdulillah, I can be healthier and engage in activities better," she added.
