Doctor Richard Decides to Convert to Islam, Admits He Found Answers in Surah Al-Baqarah Verses 155-157

Through an Instagram post by @hannykristianto_id, Doctor Richard performed his shahada again witnessed by Ustaz Derry Sulaiman and Ustaz Felix Siauw.

1. Life Experience Full of Heavy Tests

One of the factors that influenced Richard's decision to embrace Islam is his life experience filled with trials. Richard Lee's spiritual journey towards Islam began two years ago.

"In the past, I considered my life trials to be heavy. But since one word, let’s just say it. Since I learned about Islam and since I became a Muslim, I truly changed my perspective on life trials," said Dr. Richard.

2. Received Answers from Surah Al-Baqarah

He revealed that the verses of the Quran, particularly Surah Al-Baqarah verses 155-157, provided answers to the life trials he experienced. These verses teach about patience in facing trials and the importance of surrendering to Allah.

"And indeed, we will surely test you with a little fear, with hunger, and with a loss of wealth, but give glad tidings to the patient, those who, when disaster strikes them, say, 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.' Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy, and it is those who are the rightly guided," Dr. Richard stated.
