Doddy Sudrajat Admits to Being Shocked When Knowing Vanessa Angel Was Pregnant Before Marriage

Doddy Sudrajat presented a witness who is a member of the MUI Fatwa Commission, Hamdan Rasyid. The discussion was about the fatwa that discusses the condition of children who are pregnant outside of marriage.

"A person who is pregnant can get married, but if they are already pregnant, the child's lineage belongs to the mother, not the father," said Hamdan Rasyid at the West Jakarta Religious Court on Wednesday (16/3).

"So we have to look at the facts whether they were already pregnant when they got married or not. If they were already pregnant when they got married, then the lineage belongs to the mother, not the father. That is the fatwa of the MUI Council no. 11 of 2012," added Hamdan Rasyid.

2. Not a Shame

According to Doddy Sudrajat, revealing his child's past in court is not a matter of shame, but rather exposing the facts of the trial. Doddy knew that Vanessa Angel was pregnant before getting married to her sister's husband.

"I received information from my sister, who married Vanessa to Bibi at the time. Since Daddy was not present, the news came from Pak Gandi. This is when Daddy found out that Vanessa was pregnant, and it was my sister who conducted the traditional ceremony or religious ceremony with Bibi," said Doddy Sudrajat.

"Maybe at the time Vanessa was afraid to talk to Daddy, so she spoke to my sister. That's how Daddy found out, from my sister," he explained.

4. Shock

When Doddy, as a father, found out that his daughter was pregnant when she got married, he admitted that he was shocked. However, he was not angry with his late daughter or his son-in-law.

"I was quite shocked at that time. Why didn't Vanessa just tell us the truth? As a parent, I was also sad, but what can we do? It has already happened and they got married secretly and my brother-in-law has already married them," he concluded.
