Ainun Ridho and starring Tengku TeziHi and Tyas Mirasih as the main characters, MARLEY tells the story of human friendship with a dog. It is the first Indonesian film featuring a pitbull dog.
"I chose to tell a story about a dog because I want to convey the message that a human-dog relationship can be good, let alone a relationship between humans. That's the message," said Denny Siregar, the producer, in Jakarta on Monday (14/3/2022).
This film not only tells the story of friendship between humans and dogs, but also highlights the phenomenon of dog trading for consumption, which is currently rampant. It will definitely make you cry, especially when it comes to animal stories.
The movie MARLEY tells the story of Doni (Tengku Tezi), a school teacher who takes care of a pitbull named Marley. One day, Marley is kidnapped by a dog meat trader. What will happen to Marley? Can Doni save his friend?
"At first, we wanted to show the harsh and cruel dog trading, but it was too scary. So, we agreed that through this movie, we wanted to convey our love for dogs. So that children know that dogs are loyal creatures. That's why we made a story about their friendship that is stronger," said Donny Siregar.
The founder of Pejaten Shelter, Dr. Susana Somali Sp PK, appreciates the movie MARLEY. She hopes that the movie will lead to better regulations on animal protection laws.
"This movie makes me very happy because it touches on the dog meat trade. (I hope that with this movie) we can raise awareness to stop eating animals that are not livestock, and ultimately there will be improvements to animal protection laws in Indonesia," she said.
The film produced by Denny Siregar Production and AIR Film Production in collaboration with Maxstream will premiere in cinemas in the country on March 17, 2022. So, KLovers, don't forget to watch it, invite your family, girlfriend, or friends.
