Dul Jaelani Talks About Gratitude and Happiness in the Month of Ramadan

The month of Ramadan is a moment of reflection for musician Dul Jaelani. Dul emphasizes the importance of being grateful in living life, especially amidst the busyness and challenges of the modern world.

Dul stresses that many people feel their lives are lacking, even though they have everything they need. According to him, the key to happiness is being grateful for what one has. Check out more details below!

“Sometimes our lives are actually okay, we just lack gratitude. We live in a very noisy world, giving this, giving that,” said Dul when met in the Pejaten area, South Jakarta, Thursday (6/3/2025).

The younger sibling of Al Ghazali also shared how orphaned children inspire him to remain grateful. Seeing their spirit in facing life, Dul feels that he, who has complete parents, should be even more enthusiastic.   “Yes, Alhamdulillah I still have parents. I admire them. I should be learning from them,” he said.

Ramadan is also a special time for Dul to deepen his faith. He chooses to fill his time with many prayers and supplications as a way to draw closer to Allah.   “Just prayers, mostly. Because if I mention it, it’s just prayers,” Dul replied when asked about special prayers during Ramadan.

Dul's religious life is heavily influenced by his parents. Ahmad Dhani and Maia Estianty have always instilled religious values in their family. From his father, Dul learned to respect religious rules, while Maia always reminds him of the importance of prayer.   “Sometimes when I am too lazy to say bismillah or whatever, I always remember my mom saying that,” Dul reminisced.

For Dul, Ramadan is also a moment to celebrate togetherness with family. Although often busy with various activities, he always makes time to gather with Al and El, his two older brothers.   “Every Ramadan, we always gather, break the fast together, family gathering. It’s a must every Ramadan,” he said.

In addition, Dul feels that Ramadan also brings a unique happiness by seeing how Muslims around the world carry out their worship with enthusiasm. He feels proud to see mosques filled in various countries during this holy month.   “Alhamdulillah I am always happy when Islam resonates. I am very happy that anything related to Islam is global,” he expressed.

Dul hopes this Ramadan moment can serve as a reminder for everyone to draw closer to God and live with a sense of gratitude. For him, Ramadan is not just about worship, but also a time to strengthen family bonds and enhance faith.

“Sometimes we forget about Allah, like a boss with an employee, there are moments of annoyance. But this Ramadan is the perfect time to fix everything,” concluded Dul with a smile.
