Happy news comes from the young couple Syifa Hadju and El Rumi, who have just officially gotten engaged. Amidst the euphoria, actress Deswita Maharani, who is considered like a mother to Syifa, shared an emotional moment when she first learned about the happy news.

When met in the Tendean area of South Jakarta on Monday (06/10/2025), Deswita recounted the moments when she received a video call from Syifa, who was then in Switzerland. At first, she had no suspicion and only asked when Syifa would return.

"I'm on my way home, in the evening, suddenly, 'Sister video calls.' I remember, 'Why is she video calling all of a sudden?'" reminisced Deswita.

The casual conversation slowly turned into a moment full of signals when Syifa began to showcase the shimmering sunset, which turned out to be the sparkle of the diamond ring on her finger.

"'It's so shiny, right, Ma, the sun?' like that. I immediately went, 'Wow!' like that. I burst into tears," continued Ferry Maryadi's wife.

She couldn't hold back her tears of joy seeing 'her child' has been proposed to by the man of her choice. That touching moment even made Syifa have to calm Deswita down. "Then she said, 'Don't cry, don't cry,' like that," she said.

According to Deswita, Syifa herself has already gone through the moment of tears of joy with El Rumi and their respective immediate families.

"It seems that when I called her, she was no longer crying. I mean, the joy, the tears of joy were already there when she was with El, it seems," she explained.

Deswita is also happy and prays that all the processes leading up to the big day go smoothly. She admitted that she hasn't seen the ring in person because Syifa hasn't returned to Jakarta.
