Experiencing Depression, Ammar Zoni Pleads Not to be Returned to Nusakambangan

The repetition of his drug case has led the relevant authorities to take firm action by transferring him to a super high-security facility. Ammar Zoni was previously known to have been transferred to the Nusakambangan Correctional Facility in October 2025. There, he was placed in a solitary confinement cell or one man one cell, which left him with no social interaction at all. Krisna Murti revealed that there is a deep trauma experienced by Ammar Zoni while incarcerated in that notorious prison. Additionally, Ammar is reported to be showing signs of severe depression that could endanger himself. The lawyers hope that this consideration of mental health can be heard by the Directorate General of Corrections for the sake of their client's survival.

"Because there are many considerations. First, Ammar is not part of an international drug network. That is the first. Then the second, Ammar is not serving a life sentence. And then the third, that Mr. Ammar has a psychological disorder, meaning that he experienced trauma when he was in Nusakambangan," explained Krisna Murti.

2. Reasons Ammar Zoni is Categorized as a High-Risk Inmate

The background of this issue is increasingly complex because on April 23, 2026, the panel of judges at the Central Jakarta District Court sentenced Ammar to 7 years in prison. Ammar was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine within the prison. He is also required to pay a fine of Rp1 billion or serve an additional 190 days in prison if he is unable to pay.

This sentence must be served after the prosecutor demanded 9 years in prison, which made Ammar even more stressed. The judge is convinced that Ammar acted as an intermediary in the sale of narcotics, specifically methamphetamine weighing more than 5 grams. This is what led the prison authorities to categorize him as a high-risk inmate who must be strictly isolated.

Drug observer, Mrs. Titiek, also confirmed that Ammar is currently in a very vulnerable mental state and needs special attention. She stated that Ammar's placement in Nusakambangan actually hinders the recovery process from the addiction that the actor is experiencing. So far, Ammar is considered a substance abuser who needs complete medical rehabilitation to restore normal brain function.

"But during the process, when he was taken to NK (Nusakambangan), it was a high trauma situation, and Ammar has reached a level of depression. At that time, the expert witness, Budinya himself, also stated in his session that Ammar needs to be rehabilitated," said Mrs. Titiek, providing her perspective on Ammar's health condition.

The family and legal team promised that Ammar Zoni would not repeat his actions if given the opportunity to be detained in the Jakarta area. They are willing to guarantee strict supervision of Ammar to ensure he remains cooperative during his sentence. Now, the fate of his prison placement is entirely in the hands of the Director General of Corrections through a request letter that will be sent soon.
