Facial Care Product Review, Mayang Fitri, Vanessa Angel's Sister, Faces Four Years in Prison

Kapanlagi.com - Gil Gladys, the director of Tan Skin facial care products, reported Mayang Lucyana Fitri to the Jakarta Metro Police on Tuesday (12/4/2022). This is related to Mayang's actions in reviewing one of his products with inappropriate words.

Due to this review by the late Vanessa Angel's sister, Gil revealed many losses suffered by his company.

Not only did direct sales decrease, but the good image that had been built was also tarnished.

"There is material loss because our sales have decreased. There is also immaterial loss because we received many messages asking if there are harmful substances, if it has been certified by BPOM, if it has a halal certificate. We lost many customers, a 50 percent decrease," said Gil, interviewed in the Sudirman area, Central Jakarta.

The review given by Mayang Lucyana Fitri made Gil Gladys question it. The assessment given after six hours of use was considered too hasty.

"I need to explain that if the skin condition is purging and breakout. If purging is the process of adapting to new skincare or using old skincare that is harsh. But if purging is not possible in six hours (after use), except for food allergies. That's why the explanation is unreasonable. According to us, it's too quick to judge," explained Gil.

Although feeling aggrieved, Gil Gladys briefly opened the door to Mayang Lucyana Fitri to apologize, but it was not responded to. They also regretted the problem reaching the legal route given Mayang's young age.

"I didn't want this to go on because sister MLF is still young. I don't want the case to go this far because she's still young. Let's see later in the first and second mediation," explained Gil.

Mayang Lucyana Fitri's review, which has led to defamation through social media, is subject to the ITE law. The young woman who has just started her career in the entertainment industry faces a maximum sentence of four years in prison if proven guilty.

"MLF is subject to Article 27 Paragraph 3 in conjunction with Article 45 Paragraph 3 of the ITE Law number 19 of 2016, which amends Law number 11 of 2008 concerning electronic information and transactions, as well as Articles 310 and 311 of the Criminal Code. This concerns the crime of defamation with a maximum sentence of four years in prison and a fine of Rp 750 million," explained Machi Ahmad, Gil's legal representative, at the same occasion.
