Fariz RM Sentencing Hearing Postponed, Judge Grants Request for In-Person Hearing

The crucial moment of the verdict hearing in the drug case involving legendary musician Fariz RM was marked by a special request from his legal team. The hearing, which was originally scheduled to be held online on Thursday (04/9/2025) at the South Jakarta District Court, had to be postponed for a very fundamental reason.

Fariz RM's legal team, represented by Griffinly Mewoh, requested the panel of judges to hold this sentencing hearing in person. According to him, the moment of reading the verdict is a very vital time for his client and must be heard directly, not through a virtual screen.

He even likened this sentencing hearing to the final determination of the musician's fate.

"This is the decision agenda, this is the final hearing. It is as if, uh, Mas Fariz's last breath of life is actually today," said Griffinly Mewoh after the trial.

This request was immediately granted by the Panel of Judges. The sentencing hearing was finally postponed and rescheduled for next week so that Fariz RM could physically attend the courtroom.

"That's why, because this is the final hearing, we are requesting it to be offline, where Mas Faris must be present to hear it directly, not online," he added.

Previously, the decision to hold the hearing online was made considering the security situation. The court was concerned about possible disruptions during Fariz's journey from detention to the court.

"We received information about why online? Because yesterday's situation was not conducive, it was feared that it would disrupt Mas Fariz's journey from the detention center here," explained Fily, his familiar nickname.

However, for the sake of justice and the significance of the moment, a face-to-face trial is considered the best option. "That's why it was postponed to next week, an offline trial, both the legal counsel and the defendant Mas Fariz himself will be present in the trial," he concluded.
