Feeling Criminalized, Adam Deni Reveals Oddities in Legal Process Over Ahmad Sahroni's Report

Kapanlagi.com - The trial with defendant Adam Deni Gearaka for the privacy right violation case was held again at the North Jakarta District Court. The agenda for today (3/21/2022) is to provide exceptions or objections from Adam Deni's side to the Public Prosecutor's (JPU) charges last week.

After the trial, the social media activist revealed oddities experienced during the legal process over the report by Deputy Chairman of the DPR RI Commission III, Ahmad Sahroni. The first is how he was arrested without first receiving an invitation for clarification and examination.

"After being arrested, I only found out that the police report made by AS through his legal representative was made on January 27, 2022. And without an invitation for clarification, without an invitation for examination as a witness, I was immediately arrested on February 1. If we simplify it, it took only five days for the fastest first ITE Law case, maybe," said Adam Deni to the media.

1. Lawyer Falls Asleep During Interrogation

Another oddity was revealed by Adam Deni during his interrogation as a suspect. The investigators only asked a few of the dozens of questions that should have been asked. Just five minutes into the interrogation, the lawyer provided by the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) was reported to have fallen asleep.

"After being arrested, I was interrogated as a suspect. When I signed the interrogation report, I saw that there were 50 questions. But during the interrogation, I was only asked a few questions. I was accompanied by a lawyer from Bareskrim, and after 5 minutes of the interrogation, the lawyer fell asleep until the end of the interrogation," said the 26-year-old man.

2. Detained Because of Fear of Losing Evidence

A day after being arrested, Adam Deni felt another strangeness. He was immediately detained for reasons that seemed fabricated.

"On the 2nd day after being arrested, I was immediately detained for fear of losing evidence and running away. However, all of my evidence, including two iPhones, had already been handed over to the police. So what was the reason?" said the man whose birth name is Adam Deni Gearaka.

3. Not Like Jerinx's Case

Adam Deni also complained that he was not given the opportunity to mediate with the complainant, Ahmad Sahroni. Because in the previous case against Jerinx Superman is Dead, he was given that opportunity.

"After I was detained, within 14 days my file was immediately P21. This is the ITE Law, I was not given the opportunity for anything like Jerinx's case. Jerinx had a clarification invitation, a mediation process too, why wasn't I given that? I asked for a press conference but to the media, but (not allowed) on the grounds that the investigators were protecting the names of Adam Deni and Ahmad Sahroni. Where are they protecting it?" Adam Deni questioned.

4. Feeling Criminalized

Due to the strangeness and oddity he experienced, Adam Deni felt that he was not arrested for making a mistake. But being criminalized to be silenced.

"I consider representatives of the people to criminalize the people. And I don't feel arrested or detained but I feel like being silenced," he emphasized.
