First Hearing of the Sexual Abuse Case, Vadel Badjideh Admits to Having Lied to the Public & Apologizes

Vadel Badjideh finally attended the first hearing of the alleged sexual assault of a minor and abortion case, which was held behind closed doors at the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (25/6/2025). The agenda of that day's hearing was the reading of the charges by the Public Prosecutor (JPU).

After the trial, Vadel briefly made a statement to the media who had been waiting for him since the morning outside the courtroom. He expressed his gratitude that the trial went smoothly. "I cannot share the results of the hearing yet, but thank God the trial went well," said Vadel.

However, what drew attention was Vadel's apology for the commotion caused by the case that brought his name to court. He openly admitted to having lied to the public.

"Vadel also apologized for the commotion that occurred yesterday, where Vadel lied to the public yesterday," he stated.

Vadel also hopes that the case he is facing can be a valuable lesson for him to lead a better life in the future. "I hope Vadel can be better with this problem," he remarked.

When asked about the charges read by the public prosecutor during the hearing, Vadel was reluctant to disclose them. He stated that he could not reveal the results of the trial to the public yet. "I can't tell you yet," he emphasized.

This case began with a police report made by artist Nikita Mirzani to the South Jakarta Police on September 12, 2024. The report is registered under number LP/B/2811/IX/2024/SPKT/POLRES METRO JAKSEL/POLDA METRO JAYA.

In the report, Nikita mentioned that her daughter, Laura Meizani or Lolly, became a victim of sexual assault and abortion by Vadel Badjideh. After an investigation and case presentation, Vadel was named a suspect.

Vadel is charged under Article 76D in conjunction with Article 81 paragraph 1 of the Child Protection Law for the alleged sexual assault of a minor. The maximum penalty is 15 years in prison.
