Forced to Leave the Hotel, Here's the Chronology of the Incident that Made Mandala Shoji and His Wife Feel Embarrassed

Eviction occurred on Friday afternoon last week (8/12/2023) when suddenly all the belongings from the room occupied by Mandala and Maridha were taken out without their knowledge.

Those belongings were then left in the hotel lobby, which made this couple feel embarrassed.

"Mandala was on MC (medical certificate) and took a short break in the middle of the event to get the phone charger from the room. When we went to the lobby to get the room key (which was left there), our belongings were already in the lobby. We were shocked that they packed our belongings. This is the first time we encountered such a four-star hotel. We booked the hotel from December 7th to December 9th, and on the 8th, our belongings were moved out," said Maridha during a press conference in the Ampera area, South Jakarta, on Monday (11/12/2023).

When asking the hotel crew, Mandala Shoji and Maridha Deanova received an answer that their belongings were removed because it was already check out time. However, based on the booking evidence, they were supposed to check out the next day.

"The reason they gave was that it was already check out time. They said they had contacted us, but there was no phone call. Meanwhile, the hotel knew that Mandala was on MC (sick leave) on floor C because we blocked one floor for an event, but the hotel didn't contact us about the check out. So they cleaned up our belongings, mixing dirty clothes with party clothes, and mixing dirty underwear found in the bathroom," explained Maridha.

After finding out that the mistake was on the hotel's side, Mandala Shoji and Maridha Deanova were offered a room replacement. However, they refused because they already felt humiliated and experienced moral and material losses.

"I am ashamed to be made a spectacle and the event where I was the MC had to stop. From intending to have a ten-minute coffee break, it turned into hours below. The event was already chaotic. Finally, we discussed and moved to another hotel," Mandala said on the same occasion.

"After realizing their mistake, they apologized and offered a replacement room. But after being humiliated and the event was a mess, suffering a huge loss, would you accept it? Of course not," Maridha firmly stated.
