Full of Energy and Emotion! FLOW Anime Shibari Concert Makes Surabaya Roar

The legendary Japanese Anisong band, FLOW, continues their world tour titled 'FLOW WORLD TOUR: ANIME SHIBARI'. In this sixth phase, FLOW visits ASEAN countries, including Indonesia.

Indonesia can be said to be a special destination. This is because Indonesia is the only ASEAN country hosting FLOW concerts in two cities.

After successfully holding a concert at The Kasablanka Hall on Friday (2/5), FLOW held their second concert in Surabaya on Sunday (4/5). This concert can be considered special, as it is very rare for Japanese musicians to hold concerts in Surabaya.

1. Neat, Tight, and Efficient

The KapanLagi Japan team arrived at the Surabaya Convention Center at 5:30 PM WIB. According to the schedule we received, the open gate started at 6:00 PM WIB and the concert began at 7:00 PM WIB.

When we arrived, the Surabaya Convention Center area was already crowded with fans eager to watch the concert. The crowd was divided into three groups: the first group was those exchanging tickets and buying merchandise, the second group was those taking pictures at the Photo Booth, and the third group was the line to enter the hall.

In the observation of the KapanLagi Japan team, there were quite a few spectators cosplaying at this concert, especially many portraying characters from Naruto, which is notable since FLOW contributed significantly to its soundtrack.

After exchanging our wristbands, we immediately queued in the line. The queuing process was orderly and smooth, and the checks conducted by the security team were also carried out efficiently and carefully.

After the checks, we headed straight to the concert area where we and thousands of fans waited for the concert to begin.

2. Opened with Indonesia Raya, Energized with Re:member

After waiting for about half an hour, the concert started exactly at 7:00 PM WIB. Like most concerts, this one opened with the singing of Indonesia Raya.

After that, the narrator began to introduce FLOW as the members entered. Once they were all in position, the spotlight turned on and they officially kicked off the concert.

The first song performed by FLOW at the Anime Shibari Surabaya concert was Re:member, which is the eighth opening of the Naruto anime. With high energy, Keigo and Koshi successfully encouraged the audience to sing along while jumping with excitement.

Following Re:member, FLOW continued the concert by performing Kaze no Uta, the soundtrack from the Tales of Series anime. After that song, FLOW's vocalist, Keigo, greeted the audience.

"Hello Surabaya, we are FLOW, nice to meet you. This is our first time in Surabaya. We are very eager to meet you all," he said while using English.

Not only Keigo, but Koshi, the second vocalist of FLOW, also added: "We never expected we could perform in Surabaya. Even in our wildest dreams, we never thought we could perform here," he said, which was met with loud applause from the fans.

3. Play Hit Songs and Surprise Fans

During this nearly two-hour concert, FLOW kept their promise to perform hit anime songs they created, as indicated by the title of their concert 'Anime Shibari'.

They not only performed their very popular songs like GO!!!, Sign, COLORS, but they also played songs like 'Love and Justice', which is the OST from Kinnikuman, and they also performed two OST songs from Code Geass titled 'Colors' and 'World End'.

Although known as a very energetic band, FLOW also showed another side when performing the song 'Days', which is the OST from the anime Eureka 7. So touching was their rendition of this song that some audience members next to us were crying while singing along to the lyrics.

At the Anime Shibari concert in Surabaya, FLOW also surprised their fans. In their 11th song, FLOW covered 'Haruka Kanata' by Asian Kung-Fu Generation. Instantly, the audience erupted to sing along with the legendary Naruto OST.

4. Promise to Return

After nearly two hours, the concert had to come to an end. After they performed the song 'Gold', which is the OST of Boruto, Naruto Next Generation, this concert reached its conclusion.

Before officially closing the concert, the members of FLOW expressed their happiness to be performing in Surabaya for the first time in their lives. They were also impressed by the enthusiastic audience who enjoyed their performance.

As they were about to say goodbye, the members of FLOW felt a bit panicked. This was because the audience was shouting 'Ankoru, Ankoru, Ankoru', meaning the audience was asking for an encore.

The shocked members of FLOW, represented by Take and Koshi, once again thanked the audience for their attention. They also promised to return to Indonesia, especially Surabaya, in the future.
