Fundraising for Corona, Maia Admits Can't Sleep and Doctors Cry

It is known that currently Maia has donated more than 20,000 PPEs for medical personnel. In addition, this mother of 3 children admitted that the struggle to raise funds is very difficult.

"That's right. It's really difficult, especially N95 masks. Moreover, now ordinary people like me can't buy them. So I asked the hospital staff to contact the factory directly, provide a letter from the hospital. But regular masks can still be obtained, hazmat suits can also be obtained, hand sanitizers too. Even so, I don't use disposable masks. I use cloth masks because they are more efficient for me," said Maia when contacted on Thursday night (26/3).

1. Admit Can't Sleep

Irwan Mussry's wife said she had met with doctors. She also witnessed them crying because they were required to handle COVID-19 patients without PPE.

Maia admitted that she couldn't sleep seeing that. She felt the need to provide assistance to the medical personnel who have been struggling and working hard.

"Because the distribution is not enough. For example, if 100 are distributed but 200 are used, it's not possible. They have to change and dispose of them. Meanwhile, the number of COVID patients in Indonesia is increasing," she said.

2. Direct Contributions Given to Hospitals

Maia said that the allocated funds would be directly given to hospitals in need. The total number of hospitals is 35, mostly in Jakarta and other cities such as Pekalongan, Semarang, Blitar, and Malang.

She admitted that she carefully selected the hospitals to whom the PPE would be sent to avoid irresponsible individuals reselling them.

"Why? Because we don't want the items we send to be resold. Because there are many disrespectful people, so I'm very cautious. I screen the doctors thoroughly. I verify the hospital's ID card and other things. Even the delivery is done by the hospital staff. Not all couriers are willing to drop off at hospitals. They drop off at the hospital and take photos as evidence for the public," said Maia.
