Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Gunawan chose to stay in Singapore with his wife, Sybilla, but now they have both returned to Indonesia while their children continue their studies abroad.
Gunawan and Sybilla often visit Australia to see their children. "It has been almost two years in Australia now," said Gunawan at the Pagi Pagi Ambyar studio on Monday (16/12/2024).
Despite being separated by distance, Gunawan and Sybilla continue to communicate with their children and always provide support.
"(Communication is through) the phone. Yesterday I just had the chance to go there, Khayru had an exam, we were watching over him. After it was done, we went home," Gunawan said.
"A few months (my wife in Australia), she has returned to Jakarta. At that time, the rule was that before 18 years old, they had to be accompanied by a parent," he added.
Gunawan expressed his hope that his children succeed in their studies in Australia, demonstrating the family's commitment even while having to maintain a long-distance relationship.
