Hot Debate in Nikita Mirzani's Court Session, Expert Witness Asserts Live TikTok is Just a Monologue

An interesting debate took place in the courtroom of Nikita Mirzani regarding the status of communication on social media. Language expert, Frans Asisi, stated that a live broadcast or Live TikTok is essentially a monologue, even if watched by thousands of people.

This statement immediately triggered a heated discussion among the expert, the Public Prosecutor (JPU), and the Chief Judge. The JPU argued that with the presence of a comment section, Live TikTok could become a two-way conversation.

However, Frans Asisi, an expert who had previously been a witness in the Ferdy Sambo case, remains steadfast in his position from a linguistic perspective. According to him, as long as there is no direct conversation between two people, it still qualifies as a monologue.

"From a linguistic standpoint, it is a monologue. It remains a monologue. Because the response is not like a conversation between Mr. Judge and me," said Frans Asisi in the courtroom at the South Jakarta District Court on Thursday (25/9/2025).

Seeing this debate, the Chief Judge intervened to mediate. He provided a scenario to clarify the context.

"When what is conveyed is commented on by someone who can see, commented on, and I who sent it, also respond, it means there are answers. What do you think, Sir?" asked the judge.

Nevertheless, the expert stands by his analysis. "It's still a monologue. Yes. It's the same as a status, if I often use WhatsApp, my status is a monologue. So, it's just from me. In the context of that conversation, it's like that. That's from a linguistic perspective," explained Frans.

This discussion is important because the core of the case involving Nikita Mirzani is the statements made during a live broadcast on social media.

Whether those statements are considered a monologue (one-sided statement) or a dialogue (interactive conversation) will certainly have different legal implications. This debate also shows how complex it is to interpret communication in the digital era within a legal context.
