Igor Saykoji Proves Fantastic Running Progress, Pace Increases Drastically for New York Marathon

Thorough preparation by Igor Saykoji ahead of the New York Marathon has yielded extraordinary results. Not only has he been consistently training, but the husband of Tessy Penyami has also shown a significant improvement in performance, especially in terms of speed or running pace.

In the 5K running event he participated in as a warm-up, Igor successfully recorded his personal best time. According to data from the Strava app, he achieved a pace that is much faster compared to when he first started running two years ago.

"On Strava, my pace is 7.27. That's already much faster than before. The first time I participated 2 years ago, my 5K pace was 11.57. Now it's 7.27," Igor stated in the Senayan area on Saturday (25/10/2025).

This means that Igor has managed to cut down his time by more than four minutes for each kilometer. This improvement proves that the intensive training program he has been undergoing for the past 4 to 5 months is truly effective.

This impressive result allowed him to complete the 5K run with a time under 40 minutes. An achievement that makes him very satisfied.

"So it’s under 40 minutes, actually under 40 minutes, between 38 or maybe 37," he said.

For Igor, this improvement is not just a number. He truly feels the difference in his physical condition when completing the race. If before he had to struggle hard, now he can finish strong and with a feeling of happiness.

"The improvement is no longer just significant; for me, it has already improved. And the finish, it's really a finish strong, finish happy, no problems, it feels like just coming back from a walk," said Igor.
