Ivan Gunawan Plans to Perform Hajj This Year, Responds to News that Ruben Onsu Also Wants to Depart

Ivan Gunawan plans to perform the Hajj this year. In the midst of his preparations, he heard news that his friend, Ruben Onsu, also intends to go for Hajj.

This presenter and designer admitted that he hasn't spoken directly with Ruben about the plan. However, he has no issue if his friend truly wants to follow him to the Holy Land.

"It's okay. But he hasn't told me. So sometimes the media knows more than the person sitting next to them, Insyaallah," said Ivan Gunawan when met in Sawangan, Depok, Saturday (12/4/2025).

Although he has the intention to perform the pilgrimage, Ivan emphasizes that he is not going with anyone. He states that this departure is purely based on personal initiative without inviting others."I don't know if it's possible to go together, because as far as I know, I registered myself, didn't invite anyone," he said.

The 43-year-old presenter also mentioned that there are several friends who are actually part of the same travel group as him. However, he continues to undertake this plan as a personal religious journey that he has been planning for a long time."Thank God, when my friends found out that I was going for Hajj and some of them are indeed traveling with me, I initially wanted to go for Umrah with the Ustaz, but I’m just going for Hajj," said Ivan.

He added that the Ustaz accompanying him has also provided knowledge about the implementation of Hajj. According to him, this guidance is important to carry out the worship more confidently."So the Ustaz has a task, after Umrah he teaches me some things to prepare for Hajj," he said.

As the departure approached, Ivan admitted that he did not feel tense or anxious. For him, the pilgrimage should be undertaken with a happy and calm heart."Not yet, I guess. But if worship makes you nervous, why should it? I don’t want to create a stigma that God's house is nerve-wracking; it’s just normal, happy," he said.

The man affectionately known as Igun even described his feelings as if he were about to visit his own parents' house. The atmosphere in the Holy Land, according to him, is actually enjoyable and should not be feared."It's like we are going to our parents' house, happy. I’m really happy there. So there’s nothing to worry about," Ivan explained.

During his journey, Ivan will undertake the Furoda pilgrimage, which gives him the opportunity to depart without having to wait in long lines. He is scheduled to be there for two weeks."Two weeks," he said.

Regarding work, Ivan emphasizes that worship remains his priority. He believes that all worldly affairs will continue to run as long as good intentions are maintained."Work is God's business. The important thing is to get paid every month and to know that worship is a priority. God willing," concluded Ivan.
