Ivan Gunawan Wants to Focus on Ramadan Worship, Build a Mosque, and Reduce Shooting

As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, Ivan Gunawan has prepared various well-thought-out plans to enhance the quality of his worship. The 44-year-old celebrity is determined to observe fasting this year in a more religious and peaceful atmosphere compared to previous years that were packed with shooting schedules.

One of Ivan's main focuses right now is the completion of his mosque, named Masjid Suratul Quran, located in the Pondok Cabe area. He aims for the place of worship to be 80 percent finished soon and available for the public to use for tarawih prayers and other religious activities.

"During the month of Ramadan, Alhamdulillah the Masjid Suratul Quran that I am building is almost complete, so we can carry out activities in the new mosque. The surrounding community can also start worshiping in the new mosque. Friends are also welcome to visit Masjid Suratul Quran located in Pondok Cabe. So, insyaallah, it is now 80 percent done, and we are pushing to have it ready by the time Ramadan begins, insyaallah it can be used," he said when met in the Jalan TB Simatupang area, South Jakarta, Saturday (7/2/2026).

Learning from last year's experience where time was consumed by work, this year Ivan wants to drastically change his activities. He misses the warm moments of breaking fast with his family and his foster children at home without the pressure of shooting time.

"I want to reduce shooting because I want to be able to break fast with the kids, want to break fast with my parents, want to break fast at home, you know. Because last year there were jobs so the activities were all consumed," Ivan said.

In addition to focusing on the physical development of the mosque, Ivan is also actively promoting a social program called Sedekah Subuh. This program he created to facilitate his friends who want to share blessings in the form of food to those in need through a WhatsApp group.

"Actually, my program is not called Friday Blessing, but I finally accommodated friends who want to participate in something called Dawn Charity. So I created an admin number in the WhatsApp group. So for friends who want to join Dawn Charity, they can contact my admin," he explained.

This sharing program idea was inspired by the habit of a friend named Kaila. Ivan then adapted and developed the idea by partnering with a catering business owned by his neighbor to make the food distribution operations more organized.

"So initially, going back, I have a friend named Kaila. So Kaila cooks every day because she has many female helpers. She cooks at home, then packages the food, and distributes it to the neighbors. So I asked, what is that? Then she said this is called Dawn Charity," Ivan recounted.

Consistency in worship is the main key that Ivan firmly holds in his daily activities. Although he admits there are ups and downs in motivation as an ordinary human, he strives to remain steadfast on the path of goodness so as not to return to square one.

"Yes, I was taught by Ustaz Fatih that worship must be consistent. If worship is not consistent, we will return to square one, and I don’t want that. So, God willing, I can be steadfast, my faith can increase, and I can become better," he concluded.
