The puzzle regarding the ideal partner criteria of Ivan Gunawan is slowly starting to unfold. At the age of 43, this top designer is not only looking for a companion but also for a mature, simple relationship that is free from unnecessary complications.
Surprisingly, Ivan Gunawan candidly expressed his preference for having a partner from abroad, commonly referred to as a foreigner. His reasons are very personal and firm.
When met on Jalan Percetakan Negara, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (12/7/2025), his close friends call him Igun, confidently expressed his desire. "Oh, I really want a foreigner. If possible, a foreigner," he stated without hesitation.
The reason behind it is not just about physical aspects. He claims he wants to build a relationship that focuses on love between him and his partner, without being burdened by the dynamics of a large family that he believes can become complicated.
"Because if I could, I wouldn't marry into a family. It's complicated, it's complicated for me to marry into a family. So I want to be married for true love. Just between you and me. That's how I want it," he explained.
Furthermore, Ivan Gunawan elaborated on his mature philosophy regarding a bond. For him, at this age, he no longer wants to pretend or change himself for others. His future partner must be able to accept him as he is.
"Because I am already 43 years old, I don't want to change myself in 2 weeks, I have to become someone else, what's the point? So if I get a partner, it has to be someone who wants to understand me," said Igun.
He also emphasized that the essence of marriage is much deeper than just fulfilling biological needs or having offspring. Uniting mindsets and finding a soulmate is his top priority.
"So a partner is not just about sex, right? But it’s about uniting mindsets or all sorts of things like that," he revealed.
For him, a true marriage is about finding a true life partner. "Marriage is not just about having children, but really being able to be soulmates, to be partners," concluded Ivan Gunawan.
