Jack Marpaung Passes Away, Novita Dewi Reveals the Chronology of the Departure of the Batak Music Maestro - Close to His Children Before His Death

Kapanlagi.com - The Batak music world is once again in mourning with the passing of Jack Marpaung, a music maestro who has made significant contributions to preserving Batak culture.

This legendary singer took his last breath on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at St. Carolus Hospital, Salemba, Central Jakarta.

According to Novita Dewi, her father had previously suffered a stroke. His health condition deteriorated further after Novita's second sibling left for Pekanbaru for work, making Jack feel lonely.

"Yes, dad has indeed had a stroke before. Then we just took him to the doctor, but since my second brother left for Pekanbaru for work, his condition has been declining, feeling lonely," said Novita Dewi at the funeral home in Bekasi, West Java, on Monday (6/1/2025).

Jack's declining health made Novita Dewi often invite him to stay at her house. However, Jack's desire to remain close to his children is a priority.

"That's why I often take him to sleep at my house. But mom often wants this house to not be empty. But my dad often says, 'I want to be with my daughter-in-law,' daughter-in-law means daughter," she said.

Initially, Jack Marpaung had a fever that was considered a common flu symptom. However, after three days without improvement, his family decided to take him to the hospital.

"Then suddenly we were out for a walk, and suddenly dad had a fever. We thought it was just the flu, for example, a bacterial infection. He had been feverish for 3 days, and we were afraid to take him to the hospital," explained Novita.

Past trauma made the family a bit hesitant to take Jack to the hospital. Nevertheless, they ultimately decided to have him checked as his condition continued to worsen.

"And it turned out to be true. I mean, we treated the fever at home to get better. The trauma I have is that I'm afraid to take him to the hospital because my husband's father was taken to the hospital and passed away," Novita revealed.

Jack was diagnosed with a bacterial infection that caused sepsis. This made his condition increasingly critical, requiring intensive care in the ICU.

"Well, I'm afraid that dad will be taken to the hospital and the diagnoses will be different. It turns out there is a bacterial infection, sepsis and so on. Yes, it attacks the elderly and children," said Novita.
