Creator and environmental activist Jerhemy Owen or commonly called Owen, revealed plans to build a waste processing facility in Banda Neira, Maluku. Owen talked about the condition of the waste piling up at several points on the island, which he believes could disrupt the ecosystem and the tourist appeal of Banda Neira.

Owen even flew to Banda Neira and showed the location of the waste processing facility. The land has already been purchased, costing hundreds of millions.

The beauty of Banda Neira is always stunning. This area has always been a dream destination for many people. "Finally understand why Sutan Syahrir said 'Don't Die Before Visiting Banda Neira'," Owen wrote on Instagram on Friday (3/4).

"We just bought land in Bandaneira to create a waste processing facility there. And for all of this, we are spending up to hundreds of millions. So actually, my journey to Bandaneira is not just because I want to see its beauty," he explained on Instagram on Monday (6/4).

"After we learned about the serious waste problem threatening the beauty of Banda Neira, I, along with @rizarwi @homeofhumans.id @hmns.id, and the local community there @ycsi_grub will build a WASTE PROCESSING FACILITY. The goal is to ensure that Banda Neira doesn't 'die' before us, and anyone who dreams of going there," he wrote.

Owen and the brand HMNS are running a project for the betterment and preservation of the Banda Neira environment.

This waste processing facility will be built in the next 1-2 months. "We plan to provide money for families who collect waste here. And for this, we are not alone, guys. We are working with a local organization called YCS. They will help us create the best program to address the waste problem in Banda Neira. The goal is simple: to prevent waste from polluting the environment here," he explained.
