Judge Absent, Nindy Ayunda's Husband's Trial Postponed

Kapanlagi.com - The West Jakarta District Court (PN) in West Jakarta, canceled the trial of the case of drug abuse and possession as well as illegal firearms with the defendant Askara Parasady Harsono.

1. Trial Must Be Postponed

According to the lawyer of the husband of singer Nindy Ayunda, the trial was canceled because the Panel of Judges were unable to attend.

"Today was supposed to be the continuation of the examination of witnesses presented by the Public Prosecutor. However, because the Panel of Judges handling this case is currently not available, the trial is postponed until next Monday," said Hervan D Merukh at the West Jakarta District Court, Thursday (29/4/2021).

2. Harmful and Beneficial at the Same Time

According to Hervan, this condition is detrimental to his client, because the longer Askara gets legal certainty. However, on the other hand, the cancellation of the trial can benefit Askara.

"On the other hand, we have the opportunity to gather evidence that we may not have thought of at the moment. With the additional time, we have the opportunity to present evidence or witnesses if needed," he said.

Askara was arrested on January 7, 2021. In addition to the narcotics case, Askara was also charged with the illegal possession of firearms.

In the trial, Askara was charged with Article 62 of the Indonesian Law Number 5 of 1997 concerning Psychotropic Substances and Article 127 Paragraph 1 Letter a of the Indonesian Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

For firearms, Askara was charged with Article 1 Paragraph 1 of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951.
