Karina Ranau, the wife of the late actor Epy Kusnandar, shared a touching story while commemorating her 16th wedding anniversary without the presence of her husband. She admitted to regularly visiting Epy's grave to reminisce about their time together.
"Yes, ever since Dad left, I just want to say that I am strong, I am a strong woman who can stand until today, overcoming all the problems that come," said Karina Ranau when met in the Mampang area, South Jakarta, Wednesday (29/7/2026).
"Actually, I don't want to be whiny, I don't want to post about everything that happens. But that's what I've experienced, and in that way, it strengthens me. Yes, then to the grave, there I share a lot of stories," she continued.
Karina recounted that every time she visits her husband's grave, she often feels as if Epy is still at home. However, that feeling immediately fades when she sees her husband's tombstone.
"I even said I hope this is still a dream, that I feel like right now I feel Papi is at home. I feel he is not there when I go to the grave and see the tombstone, his name is on it. I feel, 'Oh, he is no longer here, he has indeed gone forever,'" said Karina.
She is determined to continue celebrating her wedding anniversary with Epy even though her husband has passed away. Karina even plans to wear her wedding dress again next year."16 years, since 2008, ended on December 3rd yesterday. And I want to keep celebrating that anniversary until I meet him again. Maybe next year I will wear my wedding dress from when I was in Sumatra, maybe I will go there to celebrate together," she revealed.
During the commemoration, Karina also brought several mementos to Epy's grave, including her husband's diary that she has yet to have the courage to open."Oh yes, I brought the minibus. The minibus that seriously became the wedding car. And I also brought the diary. The diary that he once said, 'Later when I’m gone, you read my diary.' I haven’t dared to open his diary until today," concluded Karina.
