Karina Ranau officially filed a police report against a netizen who insulted the late Epy Kusnandar with harsh words. Not joking, Karina gives the account owner three days to meet her in person. If not, she ensures that the legal process will continue.
This incident began when Karina was busy selling at her stall and found hateful comments on Instagram. Without a second thought, she immediately left her business to head to the South Jakarta Police for legal protection.
"And I want today a press conference here, I want to give 3x24 hours. If that account does not make an effort, does not try to contact me, does not meet me directly, I will continue this, you know," said Karina Ranau when met in the Kalibata area, South Jakarta, Thursday (14/05/2026).
Karina explained that she does not need a lawyer's assistance for this matter. She came independently because she feels confident that the police will help her take action against the perpetrators who have disturbed her family's peace.
"I’m not thinking about legal counsel anymore, I’m not thinking about anything. I was thinking at that moment I was selling, it was really busy at the stall, I saw the comments. I left my stall, I went straight to the police station," said Karina.
According to Karina, the comments left by netizens were very barbaric because they attacked a person who has already passed away. She felt very hurt when reading the word "die" directed at her beloved husband.
"You want to insult me, say whatever you want, go ahead, but not like that. It’s better if I’m the one who gets told 'just die', it’s okay. But thisperson is really no longer here, yet they say words like that," said Karina.
Although the perpetrator deleted their comment after it was reposted by Karina, she still did not want to forgive. Karina wants the perpetrator to receive a prison sentence to create a deterrent effect for other social media users.
"I really didn’t know that when I posted that moment, the content was sad, it made me cry, I cried like that. When I was at the stall, I saw the comments right then, I opened IG and those comments popped up. Wow, I just dropped it," said Karina.
