Kapanlagi.com - Kimberly Ryder is experiencing this Ramadan with a sense of gratitude and happiness. The mother of two revealed that this Ramadan feels different because her children are starting to learn to fast. She patiently guides her children to understand the meaning of fasting from an early age.
"Alhamdulillah this year I can teach my children that they can start fasting. So I teach them to wake up for sahur, and then they fast until noon," said Kimberly when met at the South Jakarta Metro Police on Monday (17/3/2025).
For Kimberly, this moment is even more special because she is experiencing Ramadan with her mother who always accompanies her. The presence of her mom provides significant emotional support amidst her role as a single parent.
"I just enjoy the time with my mom, so I don’t feel like a single parent because my mom is there. It’s very helpful, Alhamdulillah I’m very grateful to have my mom," added the 31-year-old woman.
Not only that, Kimberly also feels that this Ramadan is more meaningful after she performed Umrah some time ago. That spiritual experience makes her even more enthusiastic about fasting.
"This year, Alhamdulillah after Umrah, I feel more energetic, and this year I also have kids that I teach. There are many differences, and I can fast with my mom again," she said.
Kimberly also gets her children used to waking up for sahur even though they are only fasting for half a day. Despite the challenges, she enjoys every part of the process.
"Yes, it's normal for little kids. Aisyah is still fasting, but then she kisses her mouth and it smells like food," she reminisced while laughing.
As a mother, Kimberly hopes her children can learn the values of patience and discipline from an early age. For her, togetherness during the month of Ramadan is a precious moment that cannot be replaced.
"Basically, half of it is worshiping and also spending time with the kids, the other half is working and worshiping," Kimberly expressed.
