Labeled as the Gimmick King, Uya Kuya Admits to Doing Staged Hypnosis on TV Show

This father of two is one of the famous magicians in the country with his humorous style. The magic trick that is most associated with Uya is hypnosis. He revealed that he did indeed study hypnosis through short courses abroad.

"I learned hypnosis from an Indian person back then, in Jakarta. After that, I took short lessons, short courses abroad that only lasted a week," said Uya in a video uploaded by Atiek Nur Wahyuni's YouTube channel on Thursday (30/1/2020).

Uya used to have a television program that showcased his hypnotism acts. Therefore, hypnotism is closely associated with him. However, many people consider the show he presented to be purely staged. Uya Kuya speaks up about this.

"So, are there also staged hypnotisms? Well, I have done it. So, here's the thing, I used to have a hypnotism show on TV. For example, there's a married couple, and there's someone I also set up to meet them at the mall, but actually, they have already exchanged emails, and we have already met, miss," said Uya.

2. Already Know the 'Victim's' Life Story

Uya explained that during the meeting before shooting at the mall, the people who would become his hypnotism victims would share their life stories. They would pour out their hearts and talk about the problems they were facing.

"The wife talks to Astrid, sharing her problems. The husband talks to me, and then I listen to their life stories," he continued.

3. What Happened

Although he arranged the location for the event, Uya revealed that the content of the hypnosis he did was not staged. According to him, what happens on the screen is what actually happened.

"Later, because the event is in the mall, we will pretend to meet at the mall. But what happened there is what it is, miss," added Uya.

He also revealed that not everyone who appeared on his show had met before. Some of them also met for the first time on the day of the filming.
