Kapanlagi.com - The gardening hobby that Kaka Slank has pursued since 2023 has not only changed his eating habits but also his personality. Growing vegetables on a half-hectare plot in Bogor has taught Kaka the true meaning of patience.

Kaka admits that before he got to know the world of agriculture, he was someone who tended to be impatient. However, seeing the natural growth of plants without the aid of chemicals made him realize that everything of quality takes time.

"Of course, I respect the process more. It just takes a long time, that's how it is. Unless you give it chemicals, it does grow faster, but I don't use that," said Kaka when met at Potlot, South Jakarta, Friday (5/6/2026).

This natural process is what attracts Kaka the most. He feels very enthusiastic every time he sees the seeds he planted grow gradually until they are ready to be harvested without the aid of genetic engineering (GMO).

1. Avoid Chemical Stimulation

According to him, many fruits and vegetables available in the market today have gone through various processes of chemical stimulation to bear fruit quickly. That is what he avoids by growing all his needs himself.

"What makes me happy is the process. Most of the fruits that are circulating are stimulated, GMO, hybrid. I really enjoy eating something that I've been eating since I was little," explained Kaka.

2. Diverse Collection

In the midst of his busy schedule as the vocalist of a legendary band, Kaka still makes time to go directly to the fields. He, along with his wife and family, works together to cultivate various types of plants in their garden.

His plant collection is very diverse, ranging from corn, water spinach, caisim, to various types of beans. There are also kabocha squash that are currently growing large in his garden.

"Right now we have corn, water spinach, caisim, spinach, and those kidney-shaped beans, large beans, and there's okra too, green beans as well. And oh... the big squash, the kabocha squash is growing big right now," he said.

3. Enjoying the Excitement

This activity is recognized by Kaka as very exciting and challenging, although not all efforts in planting yield results. He has even started to be independent by using seeds from previous plants.

"It's fun. Planting doesn't always succeed. I'm in that phase now. There was a time when I was looking for seeds," Kaka concluded.
