Famous actress and model Luna Maya shared her personal experience using the BPJS Kesehatan service for her beloved mother, Desa Maya Waltraud Maiyer, affectionately known as Oma Desa. She recounted this story while being a guest on the TS Media YouTube channel on Thursday (3/7/2025).
In her conversation, Luna revealed that her mother had suffered a hip fracture due to a fall, which required her to undergo two major surgeries.
Initially, Luna admitted to panicking and planning to take her mother to a private hospital for quicker treatment.
However, it turned out that BPJS Kesehatan was able to cover most of the medical expenses. Luna mentioned that the first surgery was fully covered by BPJS, while the second surgery was covered 50:50.
"Because it's quite a lot, over Rp100 million, Rp120 million. But the second one is 50:50, the first one is full coverage," said Luna.
What makes Luna even more amazed is that BPJS also covers the replacement of pens for the elderly. "I thought (because) elderly people wouldn’t be compensated. Turns out they are compensated. That's great. I'm proud, you know," she expressed in amazement.
Interestingly, Luna herself admitted that she has been an active participant in BPJS Health for a long time. "I've been with BPJS for a long time. I'm proud of it," she said proudly.
Luna hopes that BPJS Health services will continue to develop and provide real benefits to the community. "I hope BPJS can always be there for all of us," she concluded.
